    timer

  • Directions

    1) Heat Water

Heat your kettle to 198 to 205 degrees Fahrenheit.

    _

    2) Grind Coffee

Grind your favorite Bold Bean coffee to a coarse grind,

28 on a Baratza Encore Grinder.  or between 6 and 8 on a Fellow Ode Grinder.

    _

    3) Preheat French Press

Pour a bit of hot water into your French press’ brewer. Give it a swirl to preheat the glass. Discard water.

    _

    4) Distribute Grounds

Pour ground coffee into your French press. Give the glass a little shake to distribute the bed evenly.

    _

    5) Start the Bloom

Pour 60 grams of hot water over the bed of coffee grounds. This should fill your French press about a quarter of the way to the top. Pause your pour for 30 seconds and allow the grounds to bloom.

    _

    6) Brew

Add an additional 540 grams of water, or however much it takes to fill the brewer to the top. Place the lid on the brewer, plunger raised, and brew for an additional three minutes.

    _

    7) Stir and Plunge

When your three minutes of brew time have passed, remove the lid to give the coffee a quick stir. Place the lid back on the brewer and gently push the lid’s plunger down to press the coffee grounds to the bottom of the brewer.

    _

    8) Serve

After a total brew time of four minutes, immediately pour the coffee and enjoy!
