The Nyagishiru washing station is located near Ruvubu River in Muyinga province in the northeast of Burundi. This washing station has 200 raised beds and works with 850 coffee-producing families. The station has supported farmers in the region with seedlings to replace old, aged coffee trees and provided funds for a school and a health care center construction for the local community. The station is on the hill of Nyagishiru and collects cherries from 12 neighboring hills.
Farmers who supply this station with cherries are paid a premium of 20% above the local market rate and also the washing station pays its staff almost 60% above the rate for casual labor in Burundi.
The waste coffee pulp produced during processing is distributed and shared with local producers as an organic compost to increase their yields.
This station is a vital resource for the region's coffee farmers and their families.
We roast and ship Monday - Friday.
