Strongly aromatic floral tones open up the cup and lead to sweet and fruity notes of lychee and papaya. A vibrant, citrus and berry toned acidity and a full, velvety body round out the cup. An excellent and very expressive coffee.
Kagumo-ini Coffee Factory (the Kenyan term for washing station), serves as a processing station for over 1,300 coffee producers who grow coffee on small farms in Murang'a county in southern Kenya. The average altitude of the farms in this area is 1,750 meters above sea level. This high altitude along with the mineral rich, red volcanic soils result in high-quality agricultural output.
After harvesting, only ripe cherries are delivered to the mill for specialty coffee production. Upon arrival, the coffee is de-pulped and fermented for around 18 hours before being washed and then soaked in fresh water for an additional 18 hours. After wet processing, the coffee is slowly dried on raised coffee beds to preserve the natural terroir characteristics.
This thoughtful, yet straightforward, processing results in a coffee that paints a clear picture of the world-renowned Kenyan flavor profile. Bright, vibrant, super sweet, floral, juicy and clean. A true gem.
